What's too young? I caught some horror movies on tv in the middle of the night when I was fairly young, but I don't think they effected me negatively or anything.

Pink Floyd The Wall. I eventually watched it as an adult and liked it. But it was creepy as fuck for a long time.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Starship Troopers.

The first I saw when I was 6, the second when I was 10. Neither were appropriate at alllll. lol.

Oohh, I totally forgot that I actually watched Starship Troopers around the same age... yeah that was a bit much.

The book was so good. Fuck that movie tho. The only good thing about that shitshow was the aesthetic.

Ditto. I saw 2001 when I was fairly young and really liked it, so when I saw another Stanley Kubrick movie at the video store my 12-year old brain went "Yay Kubrick!"

I was not prepared for all the boobs and rape.

Apparently everything, because all of my earliest memories of being in a movie theater involve being frightened of something:

Return of the Jedi: hiding under the seat during the lightsaber fuel between Luke and Vader

The Princess Bride: going out into the hall when Prince Humperdink uses the machine on Wesley (until my mom came out and told me that part was over)

Reservoir Dogs
Dar: The Beastmaster
Stephen Kong's the Cat Eye

And anything else that contained sex and gratuitous violence. Oddly, I don't feel like the Professional belongs here for me. I'm sure I was at most 9 or 10 when viewing these films.

The It miniseries, which gave me a fear of clowns that lasted my whole childhood. I decided to watch the miniseries again on my first year of college and I was disappointed that I was ever scared of it in the first place.

Flesh+Blood, a brutal and violent movie about a gang of medieval mercenaries who kidnap the betrothed of a noble during the time of the plague. I remember quite vividly how the leader of the gang raped the girl and then she tried to seduce him and make him fall in love with her to get his protection from the rest of the gang, who also want to rape her. Then most of them die from the plague because the people trying to rescue the girl infect the well where they get their water with chunks of a dead dog.

SA - The first three (I think) Hellraiser movies too, but those I actually liked. I was so young that I couldn't remember the title or even what they were about, but I had the image of the cenobites and the puzzle box stuck in my brain for years until I finally managed to find out where it came from.

I mean, kinda? My parents never cared one bit about age limits so I'd already watched other inappropriate stuff, but it had never occurred to me that historical movies (which young me thought were absolute bore fests) could be this extreme, so I went from not paying any attention to "Wow! This went off-the-rails crazy really quick!" I think that's probably the main reason it stuck with me for so long.

Chucky, IT, one about a girl who wanted to go to prom but then dies and ends up haunting her classmates and killing everyone (it's not Carrie), Carrie, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street...

I was four and our aunt was our """nanny""" hahahahahaha. I enjoy horror movies now, though! But wouldn't let any child watch horror movies never ever.

My dad took me to see Heavy Metal when I was 8.

There's a movie called Felidae which is basically a noir crime/mystery movie with cats. It's based on a book (by a guy who turned out to be a huge Nazi asshole so I'm kind of sad about it because I used to like the book).

It's an animated movie. And when I was a kid, the people working for the TV stations apparently thought "Oh hey, it's animated, must be kid's stuff let's just put it into the childrens' program in the afternoon".
Not the best idea. It's pretty brutal, with cats getting murdererd and disemboweled in fairly graphic detail and ... yikes. A lot of people from my generation were a tiny bit traumatised by that haha.
