Short version: The local anime society kiiiind of looks like it's going down in flames. I'm trying to decide if I should bail now or stick around and try and help.

Long version: I've hung around on the periphery of the local anime society, which organises the state's only anime convention, for years. This year, I decided to get involved, and joined the committee... and discovered the following:
1) The new President has 0 experience, and has taken no steps to actually perform any of her duties as the President
2) The society is thousands of dollars in debt
3) We can't book a lot of our usual spaces because of flooding across the state earlier in the year
4) No-one has a coherent plan for getting us out of debt
5) The Treasurer quit a couple of weeks ago, so we need a new Treasurer, and no-one wants to be treasurer for a society that's deeply in debt!!!
A N D (drumroll)
6) The Vice-President, one of the most experienced members of the committee and one of the people everything relied upon, just quit.

In my opinion, we need to either cancel the con or scale it waaaaay back so that we don't spend money we don't have, and we can focus more on smaller fundraising events. But IDK. Maybe the whole thing will just implode and I won't need to think about it any more.
