I think what OP is objecting to is the idea of franchises (they mentioned MCU, but this definitely occurs in a lot of Western canon, like having a new Bond girl for every movie) adding/subtracting love interests as they see fit because they are written by different people. I don't mind the Bond girls, but sometimes things like Magneto/Rogue happen because the current writer loves those two characters and some fans are left wondering what they missed.

As another anon had pointed out, Victor has specifically said it's been almost 2 decades since he had done any 'life and love', so unless he's very very young in Ice Adolescence it would be contradicting season 1 canon if he's suddenly in a relationship. (Unless they're friends with benefits.)

But victor does say he's had lovers before, when he asks Yuri about it. Might not have been serious and they obviously didn't work out, but nonetheless.
