Your favorite fairytale adaptations!

Or what fairytale adaptations would you LIKE to see?

I have a weird soft spot for Donkeyskin, probably because the McKinley adaptation (Deerskin) horrified younger me. I'd love to see this weird thing get an "inspired by" kind of adaptation.

Ah yes, Deerskin. When I was a wee small thing, I found that on a low-lying shelf, figured it was a fairy tale of some sort, and started reading. Then at some point I went to my mum for clarification on something - either the meaning of a word or just what was going on in a scene - and she suggested that I might put the book aside for a few years...
I read some messed up stuff when I was a kid.

I want more Baba Yaga and what my grandmother would call forest stories. None of the big disney movies are in the same setting or tone as what I grew up hearing.

Bluebeard is sorely underrated and underproduced and ripe for a variety of retellings.

I would be interested to see an adaptation of The Twelve Dancing Princesses. Subvert the tale and turn it into a Tarantino film.

I would LOVE to see a version of The Glass Coffin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Glass_Coffin), especially one where the tailor and the maiden didn't necessarily marry immediately at the end. But I adore the maiden and her brother in this story. Evil wizard wants to marry her, she rejects him, he kidnaps her brother and turns him into a stag, she chases after them and straight up tries to shoot the wizard, later her stag brother sends the tailor to rescue her from her glass coffin while he vengefully murders the hell out of the wizard. Talk about your badass family.

I read this a really long time ago and unfortunately can't remember the title or the name of the author. it was a very twisted version of Cinderella where she was a witch. And not a nice witch. Her birth mother had died because she had been executed for being a witch and the mother's ghost was giving Cinderella spells and advice for revenge against the king and his family (the king had ordered the execution) and Cinderella casts a sexual spell on the prince to make him completely obsessed with her, he can't eat or sleep, all he wants to do is be with her. The stepmother and stepsisters in this version aren't evil, they're just clueless. It ends with her taking power over the whole kingdom, having used her magic to manipulate the shit out of the king and make the prince basically her sex slave. This needs to be a movie.

Godfather Death

I've been sitting on a Tam Lin adaptation for far too long. I should either start polishing it up and trying to ship it around or just throw it up on AO3 or something.

I used to want to see the story of Molly Whuppie turned into a movie.
