Right there with you, Anon! I remember reading several of those books as a pre-teen (my brother had about ten of them), and actually enjoying some of it, but yeah - the whole 'if only you stop having a brain and free will, you silly woman, you'll realize you love this' crap was pretty off-putting.

Let's have what you said, let's have same-sex master/slave pairs, let's have a little less torture (the one character who had her ears and nose cut off as punishment freaked me out hardcore).
