To be honest, the movie isn't great and there's no real context that you need to understand the meme anyway, it's pretty self explanatory.

I think it's...one of Snyder's better movies which probably isn't saying much, but you might laugh because the scene is pretty stupid.

Haters in this thread, haha. 300 is a fantastic power fantasy movie that's unusually artsy for being a splatter action movie. It's fun to watch, has dialogue that isn't necessarily clever but sure as fuck is entertaining, and has exciting comic book action.

a Persian messenger comes to Sparta to demand allegiance, and in return the guy in the meme, Leonidas, threatens the messenger. the messenger is incensed that he's being threatened, and tells Leonidas, "This is madness!" then, the line: "Madness? This is Sparta!" and Leonidas kicks the messenger into a hole.

the movie is pretty bad in most ways.
