To be honest, it worked for me? It definitely wasn't remotely realistic but that was OK with me, and the neon aesthetic made a lot of sense in the context of the movie and its themes.

If anything, I would have liked it to be less realistic.

"and the neon aesthetic made a lot of sense in the context of the movie and its themes."

I'm curious, but in what sense? I thought the neon look didn't fit at all, really. I can understand why they wanted to give those sequences a different look and feel because they're recounting something that happens in a semi-mythical past or an afterlife setting, but...neon rarely looks good to me, tbh.

DA

For myself, despite the fact that it's the past that is looked at, isn't Vibranium from space? so it wouldn't necessarily have earthy properties (in terms of neon glow, but bioluminescence isis a thing and neon does exist in nature, not just as an element but a color)

At least that's what I got from it, plus the Afro-Futurist design of a lot of Wakanda . People with advanced tech/outer space tech tends to lend itself to glowing neon, as far as comics tend to go.

+1, it really worked for me in those sequences. Not so much when T'Challa's suit was glowing purple in fights.
