Why on earth would you think that

(Anonymous) 2018-07-16 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Because if the movie you like the most is the movie that was the least consistent in writing and characterisation.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-16 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know how to tell you this, but Star Wars has never had good writing.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-16 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course it didn't but they at least tried to be a little consistent with the characterisations, for better of for worse. And TLJ was a huge, huge mess so even if the other movies weren't brilliantly written either, it's still silly to praise TLJ as that ~perfect wonderful and amazing movie compared to the others" when the plot holes, characterisations and pacing was abysmal.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-16 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree that it had pacing problems, it's not a technically perfect movie. I accept that the pacing was flawed. The rest of this I cannot agree, the characterisation was fine and I don't know what "plot holes" means but the plot was a good space adventure plot.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-16 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Who the hell is saying it's a perfect movie? Everyone in this thread is just saying it's not objectively godawful.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-16 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
But that's not true

(Anonymous) 2018-07-16 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry but when several of the actors say that playing their characters was like playing entirely different characters than the ones they played before, that's a bit of a hint that something went wrong along the way.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-16 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Who and what precisely did they say and did they later say that people like you were misinterpreting what they said

(Anonymous) 2018-07-16 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Mark Hamill has been very vocal about his role. Daisy Ridley also said something about how playing Rey in TLJ wasn't so much getting back into character but playing an entirely new character instead but I can't find the quote right now. Several other actors were not too thrilled with the script. But sure, it's all just misinterpretation if it doesn't fit what you like.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-17 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Hamill is also the one who said that he was misinterpreted, and Rey was more a case of a character developing in dramatically different circumstances. The same way Luke changed from new hope to empire to Jedi.
