So they take money that's already coming your way and give it to you all at once, and then they arrange for the payments over time to go to them? Hm. I wonder if there's an upper limit, because that'd be pretty kickass if you won the lottery and had to choose between, say, $10mil at $5k a month for the rest of your life or $5mil all at once.

Without looking it up, their rake is probably significant enough that it's only really worth it if you desperately need the money, or are really impatient.

Also, most lotteries already give you the option to receive a smaller lump sum, or more money spread out over time as an annuity.

I think they handle things like car accident settlements and inheritances more than lottery wins?

Most lotteries already give you those options. And I'm pretty J.G.W. doesn't give you the full value of the settlement, just the majority of it, so they make a profit that way.
