109 I saw him in Thank You For Smoking and he was great in that role. That was the only movie I knew him from before TDK because he's not really a well-known actor like Bale is. Also, the only other movies with him in it that I feel like watching are The Black Dahlia and Suspect Zero -- so obviously he hasn't been able to land better roles before this movie came out. Hopefully this will help his career, but I'm with you, the guy needs more recognition for what he brought to the character.

145 How does someone's skin get burned into something resembling clown makeup by chemicals? Explain that one realistically to me. TDK was a more realistic take on the Batman franchise and hence the makeup.

145- i notice alot of people don't seem to get this either. TDK was geared for a more realistic thing, not comicverse. >>; i think people need to appreciate it for what it is.

lol, so a series that is about a famous multimillionaire who likes to play superhero and hides his voice by growling and yet somehow is able to keep a 'secret identity' is now about realism?

it's a fucking superhero franchise, not a documentary. i'm not saying heath or nolan are sucktastic assholes, i'm saying that the joker who has been known and loved for, what, 60 years? has a story. he was not some random psychopath who slapped on makeup and made up stories about scars. even nicholson's joker was more accurate to, you know, the story of Batman.

It think it's less of a stretch of the imagination to believe that some crazy millionaire could run around trying to stop criminals (you do know that some people do this in real life, don't you? Google "real life superhero") than to believe some guy got his face burned by "chemicals" to resemble a clown face, and that he went crazy as a result. It's more realistic to picture the joker as a psychopathic or anarchistic criminal who wears makeup to unsettle people.

Really, I hated Jack Nicholson as the Joker. And I saw that movie first, so seniority =/= superiority. Sorry

more accurate to, you know, the story of Batman

TDK was adapted from The Killing Joke and The Long Halloween, so at least it chose specific comics in the long repertoire of Batman to adapt from, instead of just having a general "origin story, then we write whatever the fuck we want" take like all of the other movies.

Nope. I've been hyped up for it since I saw the end of Batman Begins and Gordon gave Batman the Joker card.

Nope, while I'm not a huge Batman fan I did fangirl at the Joker card and was excited about him being in it since the news of his being cast.

I hope you do realize that the bottom half is supposed to be sarcastic.

I've been wanting to see this movie ever since the Joker was mentioned as the next villain. Nolan impressed me greatly with the first film and I could not wait to see how he was going to fit the character into his realistic noir version of Gotham.

I did realize it was trying to be sarcastic, it just prompted that general question from me (related to the secret).
