Ahh, I see. How old were you when the show started airing? Could just be me though, nothing I've watched has actually frightened me.

Ah so was I, I was born April '88. IDK I've just always told myself that if it's fiction then it can't hurt you and that getting scared over fictional things is just silly.

I'm glad you got past the nightmares! I'm glad I don't scare easily but it can be boring watching a scary~ film and not reacting to it like most people would.

Spambot challenges?

I watched a lot of horror and paranormal films when I was very young, so movies don't scare me as much unless it's something I can actually relate to (dogs gnarling upclose, surgery, etc.-- very real and very scary).

Yeah, for when you post anon, they make you type something in to prove you're human, but I give up. I'm coming out. It's making my eyes hurt trying to see what it says.

I also grew up watching a lot of things that were more suitable for older people so I guess over time I just got desensitized to it but even now I can't tolerate gratuitous violence in films. Chakushin ari was the last horror film that seemed to get anything from me, but it was very tense haha.

I'm more into horror films for the mythology and mystery to it, these days. Specific franchises have just turned into jokes, from what I've seen and barely any movies have really scared me in the past 10 years. I hate how thriller/horror flicks rely too heavily on BIG FLASHING PICTURES FOR A SECOND WITH SOME LOUD NOISE TO STARTLE YOU in order to enduce fear. It feels like a cop out.

As far as I can recall the last time I saw a horror film that was part of a franchise was Scream, not long after it was released here. I found it to be pretty hilarious because it mocked itself so well. I definitely agree that films rely on the same tired tricks and figure if you actually see the violence involved then that will scare people. I'm more moved by the sound of some guy getting his head cut off, not the actual sight of it. I guess this is why I prefer thrillers to stuff that's full of blood.
