I do something similar, though the fanfic exchanges actually make me happy because it's some kind of interaction with someone. Please be aware that even if someone doesn't comment on your fics, or says they didn't like their gift (which would be incredibly out of order and hopefully will never happen), the time you spent working on them wasn't wasted because YOU enjoyed the experience - you are the important one :)
