I loved that line from Anya.

I always wondered how she was living after becoming human but before Giles gives her a job. She mentions being "stuck in this persona" and almost running out of money, so her magic persona included at least some money and a place to live?

Yeah, she's kind of what happens when you push that archetype to such an extreme that it ends up breaking in half.

But it doesn't affect how I think about other characters of the type...

She was so awesome. Loved her *so much* - it always annoyed me how short everyone was with her, even the man who 'loved' her. Just - really?

/fed up with the "poor Anya, she was so great" brigade. Crossover with the "poor Spike" (another woobiefied asshole) brigade closely correlated.

I mean...I liked Anya, but generally, I hate this character type, because it just comes across as "she's super-amazing and special but has ~quirky flaws~ to seem relatable." Simultaneously "not like other girls" and "girl next door" and so a very dated faux-feminist way to write female characters, at least as a defining personality trait so...it usually does nothing for me.

i don't know if max falls into that category but i still have to commend you for your taste and express excitement that anyone else remembers and loves this show.
