That's interesting, tell me more

(Anonymous) 2018-07-21 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Here are some examples:
https://4thwavenow.com/2016/10/31/transing-the-dead-the-erasure-of-gender-defiant-role-models-from-history/

That site seems extremely TERFy, so I'm a little concerned that their sources and arguments might be biased by that.

Anything that questions the trans narrative is labelled as TERFy these days. I don't think pointing out that women had to sometimes disguise themselves as men as women did not have as much social status is that radical...

The site, in its own words, is a place for "parents and others concerned about medical transition of minors and young adults. Many 4thWaveNow contributors are parents of young people who experienced rapid onset gender dysphoria at adolescence, sometimes called ROGD... We encourage parents to consider the possibility that their gender atypical teens may not be 'in the wrong body,' but instead may be same-sex attracted and struggling with their orientation... The purpose of this site is to give voice to an alternative to the dominant trans-activist and medical paradigm currently being touted by the media."

It's true that they might not be TERFs, but only because they don't explicitly identify as radical feminists.

I don't think taking time to think before you turn your child sterile and encourage them to mutilate their healthy sex organs is that radical either.

A lot of families are using trans as the new gay conversion. Instead of accepting that their child is gender non-conforming or gay, they encourage them to transition.

I'm doubtful about your claim. It seems extreme, costly, and emotionally tramatic to force a cis gnc child to transition. While I don't doubt people who fit into the gender binary, trans or cis, have an easier than those who do not. Never mind that trans people can be gay/bi.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-22 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
You could say the same about the old gay conversion methods, yet people still used them. I'm sure it's not hard to convince a young boy that likes girly things that he actually is a girl.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-22 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Gay acceptance is more widespread than trans acceptance and most of the parents who wouldn't be okay with a gnc child wouldn't be okay with a trans child.

NAYRT

It's true, though. You might want to look into it. It isn't even that rare in some countries where being gay can lead to serious legal issues.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-22 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Pre-adult transition is fully reversible, though - it's puberty blockers, not surgery, at least in every country I know of (apart from Iran, and we know they have forced transition).

Jazz Jennings...

(Anonymous) 2018-07-22 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
It's not. Young confused de-transitioners are understandably upset about how after a year on testosterone and then realizing they weren't trans after all, their voice will never go back to normal.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-22 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of LGBT teens go through a period of questioning their gender identity, though. I did, a lot of my friends did, it's not at all uncommon especially if you're gender non-conforming. I think it's good to recognize that this IS a thing that happens and to encourage kids to consider that possibility as well.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-22 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Not really what they're talking about

(Anonymous) 2018-07-22 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't irrelevant.
