Re: How does one....find and go to a doctor?

Can you go to any doctor you want? Or does your insurance only give you a few to choose from? That's the first thing you find out. If you can go to *any* doctor (unlikely, but maybe), then decide what you *need* from this appointment. Are you just in general wondering if you're okay? Or do you have a few odd, specific 'things' you're wondering about?

If just in general - talk to some people you trust about their GP (general practitioner), and see who they like. Read reviews online (there will be a lot, as a rule). Do you want a male or female doctor? Etc. When you have narrowed your choices down, call their office and tell them you're a new patient on that insurance. Make sure they *take* your insurance, first thing. Then see if they're taking new patients.

Make your appointment for a general physical with some blood tests - tell them you haven't seen a doctor in ever/a long time, and you kind of want the gamut, to make sure everything is okay.

Make sure you know what your copay is and if your insurance covers all the stuff they're going to do - labs can be super expensive.

Go have fun talking to your new doc! If they don't listen, ignore you, irritate you, or make you feel bad, find someone else. Life is too short to have an asshole for a doctor.

If you have specific issues - still go see a GP, and tell them about the issues, and they'll refer you on to a specialist.

Good luck!
