And I think the hate of him is too much. The worship of him was annoying, but the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction. I think he's an okay director who has done some good things. He's not as feminist as he thinks he is, but that doesn't mean this show won't be good. Just depends on who he surrounds himself with. It is an interesting concept that could turn out really good.

I think most of the backlash comes from his self-awareness. His confidence comes across as arrogant to many.

I like the premise of this and most of his stuff tends to turn out well. I mean, no one is around making perfect media.

Every time a creator gets lauded as feminist and progressive and whatnot, I've started making a mental countdown to when everyone clings to one weaker aspect of their work and declares it proof that they're the spawn of Satan and secretly the absolute worst. I've already started seeing rumbling about Taika Waititi over Jane Foster being written out and Rian Johnson over Finn's more comedic treatment versus Kylo Ren's. It rarely fails me.
