I agree, as a medieval history MA. You're making a film for general audiences, within the constraints of good storytelling with a film medium - pacing, plotting, and a ~2 hour limit. People seem to be stuck on the French accent thing when an early modern French accent doesn't even sound like a modern French accent. And who knows what her English sounded like? Give her the Scottish accent, whatever, that will hardly be the most inaccurate part of this movie - and that's probably okay. The Scottish accent vs the English accent obviously give some uniformity to the two sides involved in the conflict here. Staying true to the essence of the conflict is really more important than the details, so long as it tells a well-crafted story. Real history would be boring, convoluted, and confusing to watch.

I'm just dreading this becoming Braveheart 2.0, with the whole Scottish national pride derived from a hugely inaccurate film.
