But one is slightly less inaccurate than the other, is what ayrt's point is, I suspect. Otherwise why not just have everyone speaking in a Texas twang? Or perhaps a valley girl California accent? Or ooh, how about Mary Queen of Scots, Fargo-style?

I find it weird, this implication that accents are all or nothing.

I don't think either of them would be less inaccurate, I think they'd be pretty much equally inaccurate.

Otherwise why not just have everyone speaking in a Texas twang? Or perhaps a valley girl California accent? Or ooh, how about Mary Queen of Scots, Fargo-style?

There's no intrinsic reason that you shouldn't do any of those things, it's a stylistic choice.
