You've heard correctly. She's consistently pitchy, and overuses scooping notes to the point of it being distracting to try to compensate. She also has limited range and poor breath control, which is going to make any of the non-chorus parts painful to listen to even with autotune, unless you've got a tin ear.

With that said -- she's hardly the worst singer to be cast in a movie musical. It will probably be on par with Phantom 2004.

It did well enough with the general public that it was made for. The movie was never meant for theatre kids.
