I don't think it's as bad as some make it out to be, but sometimes Scott is a terrible friend. To be fair, Stiles isn't always the best, but Scott does seem to have more than his fair share of situations where he could be better and just isn't. Though, I will say some of that does feel organic to the character being a thoughtless teenager wrapped up in what's going on with him. It would be nice if the narrative acknowledged this more, instead of characters telling others (and the audience) how wonderful he is. I think the writers got slightly better at it as time went on.

I'm jn the same boat as the anon who pointed out that Scott's a teenage boy, and so he will occasionally be shitty. I've definitely had periods where I haven't been a stable summer sunshine pup, and I didn't get turned into a werewolf (which canonically comes with some weird hormone/lunar mood swings and animal selfish instinct behaviors), or hold my murdered girlfriend in my arms at any point. A lot of the "bad friend behavior" I see in fic revolves around him just being a clueless dickbag instead of the more canonical miscommunication/lack of communication with good intentions, and it makes me squint a little at the disconnect.

Dude, you're not alone. Scott is an abysmal friend, was horribly written (well, most of that show was), and he never once got called out for being an utter fuckhead.
