What would your ideal living situation look like if money wasn't a consideration?

Someplace with great internet. Would it be weird to say a family compound? I'd like to be able to provide houses for my siblings (the ones I like) while not living in the same house. No ponies but I would like a pack of rescue greyhounds.

The rescue group I got my boy from will place some greyhounds in homes with cats or other small animals.
They're all tested for reactivity around other dogs/small dogs/cats/other animals and it's recommended that you keep a close eye on them for a while and keep their muzzles on during introductions.

I'm not sure what the groups in your area are like and if you have the time and space to give both the cats and a dog the time to get to know each other, but it might be possible. Rescue groups will sometimes offer a trial period too. Maybe not if you have very anxious cats and having a dog around would cause them undue stress. :(

I joke that I got a dud greyhound because he has no prey drive even though he's been selectively bred for that trait. He doesn't chase, has no interest in small animals, and he likes to cuddle his toys rather than chew them. I'm still careful with introducing him to other animals but he has perfect manners and prefers to nap in the waiting room at the vet rather than watch their desk cat walk back and forth waving her tail at him. He will roll on his back and let my friend's tiny puppy beat him in a play fight. I don't really want cats but he'd probably like to be a kitten mother.

A tiny off-the-grid cottage (e.g., cabinporn) or earth house on a cliff overlooking the ocean, at the edge of a forest.

One cat, no ponies.

One-person apartment with a great view of the city and close to where I work, near a park for my dog.

Money no object? One giant house/yard for cats, another for dogs, and a third for reptiles and sea life. Good internet in all. A personal movie theater. A nice pool. One house is near the beach, another is up in the mountains.

TBH I wouldn't mind a nice house with a basement that I could share well with my friends who aren't in good home situations, with a maid to come around and clean. There'd be a nice den for us to hang out and chill in and at least one work studio for me with a drafting table setup and my laptop (and a fuckton of art stuff)

I'd have at least one cat myself and of course whatever pets my friends bring with them. I'd live close to a mall complex or in a place close to one or two bus stops so I can get out during the day. And if money wasn't an issue i'd love to just be a full time artist tbh.

I'd have a condo in Waikiki, Hawaii, one in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and one in New York City, near the park. Lots of light in the rooms, probably 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, dark hardwood floors and off-white walls, granite countertops in kitchen and bathrooms, maybe a skylight in the master bath with stained glass in it (with a California poppy design). Kilim rugs, potted monstera, gas fireplace.

I'm scared of horses, so no ponies, but I'd like to have a house surrounded by lots of flowers and nice yard for my dog to roam. I'd have a room just for my dolls and books and a tower room just 'cause I've always wanted a tower room. I'd live alone, but my family would live within walking distance.

A big Queen Anne/Victorian house in northern California with solar panels, room for all my books, a well laid out kitchen, and a workshop with good light for all my hobbies. A few acres of land with a chicken coop and run, a goat shed, a greenhouse, a stream or spring, and a pond, a big garden and orchard, and some wildlife habitat. I’d have to hire someone to drop off groceries and stuff and occasionally chauffeur me around since I can’t drive.

If ponies are compulsory I guess I’d need a livestock vet nearby and a barn and fenced pasture. I like horses and know the very basics of care but I couldn’t do it all myself. And I’d want a couple guest houses for people to come visit/stay if they needed to. I’d keep my house in southern California and rent it as a short term vacation rental so I could still visit friends and family here and afford to go on vacation to other countries.

Or I guess if money really wasn’t a concern I could maintain vacation rentals in London, Paris, Vancouver, and New York. Maybe Hawaii. And pulling in that much rent I probably could afford my dream house and not worry about money.

three bed house; one bedroom for me, one for guests and one to turn into an epic mancave :)

also a decent basement, because basements are always fun

Ponies? Pfft, you gotta dream big, man. It's unicorns or nothing.

One story two bedroom two bath. I would room with another people long term who has similar interests and life goals as me because I'm the biggest scaredy cat when I'm alone but picky about who I room with. Ideally, lawn maintenance would be taken care by someone who isn't me. I'd live 30 minutes or less from my parents. I'd also own two giant dogs who are well trained and very fluffy.

Small cottage by the sea. A few cats. Totally self-sustained, solar energy. Dug out house would also be ideal.

Nearest neighbours would be at least a few km away.

I'd like to live in a cozy cottage by the sea (NOT in Florida or anywhere else in the South) with a few dogs (preferably a dachshund, a corgi and a pitbull), a few cats and a couple of ferrets. There would be a fireplace and a big bay window I could sit in to read and play videogames. I'd have enough land to keep some chickens, goats and a few mini-donkeys, but I'd board my horses and ponies elsewhere. Since this is all a completely impossible dream to begin with, I might as well go big and say that my recently-departed horse Sharif would still be alive and healthy, as would my also recently-departed cat Max and a few other cats and dogs whom I miss desperately. I'd also wish to be able-bodied and pain-free once more.

Cozy cottage by the sea with its own private beach. No ponies, but I'd keep chickens, ducks and maybe a small herd of dairy cattle to provide my own milk and cheese.

- A house somewhere in Tasmania, or the Blue Mountains, or maybe Gippsland
- As eco-friendly as it can be made (water tank, double glazing and solar panels all definites), but still on the large side
- Outside the city but with decent internet and (very important) a large clear area around the house and multiple routes in case of bushfire
- Big kitchen, big oven, probably two freezers (upright freezer for day-to-day, freezer chest for long storage and backup supplies), walk-in pantry, solid marble countertops
- Maybe three bedrooms? Four if I'm having my parents live with me.
-- Also, if my parents are living with me, I want one of those neat little lifts, because my dad's disabled and stairs can be problematical for him.
- Walk-in wardrobe for the main bedroom
- En-suite bathroom for the main bedroom at least, maybe others too
- Enthusiastic use of sky lights
- Stained glass anywhere I can put it
- Recycled timber <3
- A really big, comfy bathtub. I might only use it once a month, but I want to be able to stretch out properly, damnit!
- I think I'd like a pool. I like to swim, and I'd probably spend half of summer in it...
- I'd like to have a productive garden (fruit, veg, herbs, etc.), but maybe only if my mum were living with me. She loves to garden, but I'm dreadful at it.
- I wouldn't mind a cute little pond, if I could somehow convince frogs to come to it and kookaburras to keep the fuck away
- I like real fireplaces, but I don't know much about the different financial/environmental costs/benefits of different ways of heating a house, so I'd want to find out about that before I made any decisions
- Maybe a little home gym?
- Library <3 <3 <3
- I'd probably adopt a few dogs or cats

ALL THE PONIES!!
Heh.

Actually, probably not, since i'm lazy and don't want to take care of tons of animals.

Ideally - living on the north-east or north-west coast, as close to the beach as possible. A green home - solar, maybe a windmill, a well, made from stone and as much reclaimed wood and salvaged fittings as possible.

Art nouveau style stuff, hangings and things. Central vacuum. Big, claw foot tubs enameled in colors, fireplaces.

No frigging neighbors, really good internet, bookshelves everywhere, lots of cats and 'cat highways'.
*happy sigh*
