Yeah, when the show started showing their friendship and how close they were, I was like uh oh... someone's gonna die.

Oh for sure, they telegraphed something bad happening with these two pretty heavily. Didn't stop it from sucking but I knew it was coming very quick into meeting Darius. Which was a shame because I liked him. :(

Same here, sigh.

I mean, Darius was Black; he was queer...and, from a narrative point of view, he was In The Way Of Mariah. The story of Season Two seems to be that you can't be on Mariah's bad side and live. (She did try to love her daughter; Tilda lives. She did still want Shades; he lives. She does respect Luke Cage; he lives.)

Really wish the show had let Darius live. For all intents and purposes, he could have been severely wounded, in a coma or what have you, with the same results (because Homicide would still have been triggered by the Chief's death, and we would have gotten Misty involved, all the brass interested, etc.).

So, bah, Bury Your Gays again.

I can only +1 all of this, because I agree with every single word.

Like I even got slightly excited when it was clear he was LGBT... for all of two seconds until I remembered what kind of show it was and my mind immediately went 'oh no'.

The funny thing is Mariah actively wanted Bushmaster dead and he got to live, which I am glad about because I really liked him, but Darius could have been removed without killing him as well.

It's just all kind of blah on that point for me. :\

I am tracking this thread.

I would love more discussion of these two; they were a highlight of Luke Cage Season Two! :)
