nayrt - Yep, this is exactly what I mean. I love my friends dearly. I wouldn't even mind living with some of them. But buying a house together is one of those complex long term commitment things that's just too much. I'd have to love that person the way I do my husband AND our living habits would have to be compatible. We'd also have to take into consideration issues like what happens if one of us loses their job, decides to get married and start a family, etc.

If it's just a happy fantasy where I'm living with my BFFs and we're hanging out on weekends baking cupcakes, walking our four dogs and visiting museums, then sure, it looks great. But real life isn't that simple.
