It is true and you know it.
It's so goddamn bizarre to me that you people think you're doing anything other than making yourself appear special because you don't ~feel~ like a man/woman even though none of you can actually describe what ~feeling like a man/woman~ is without defaulting to stereotypical descriptors.

NAYRT and I’m cis but this is a ridiculous argument. I’ve been misgendered a couple of times and it felt really shitty; if nb people just wanted attention there are lots of ways to get it that don’t involve things like the possibility of corrective rape or getting fired from jobs or disowned.

At worst I’d say some nb people are just trying to figure out their gender identity and sexuality; the proportion of any self-identified non straight/cis group that does so “for attention” is likely vanishingly small, and also claiming “it’s just for attention/a phase” about someone’s gender/sexuality is shitty no matter if it’s aimed at cis gay men or trans women or whoever else. Most people just want to not be harassed for being who they are. Saying that nb people just want to be “special” reeks of junior high and high school insults, where most teens are occupied with trying to feel/be special and it’s not the end of the world. And if most nb people end up identifying as something else later, so what? Maybe they’ll gain some empathy for more marginalized people.
