Text: I fell in love with this song as soon as I heard it. I've played it hundreds of times, and it inspired an entire quadrilogy of stories that I wrote for National Novel Writing Month. It's a really powerful song to me, and the bridge is awesome. I always thought it would make a great background track for a movie trailer (besides Transformers, that is), particularly something post-apocalyptic.

Then the Battle Angel Trailer dropped.

All the comments I can find about the cover are positive, and it baffles me as to why. The musical notes are all over the place, the singer sounds bored, and it's way too slow. The only good part is the orchestral bridge.

I know some people think that liking Linkin Park means I have questionable music tastes, but I really don't get the appeal of this new version. Someone please explain it to me!

I love LP too, and I'm still bummed I never got a chance to see them live. I'm both not sure about the cover or this remake.

OT: I think Battle Angel Alita deserves an update, but I'm prepared for this to suck, because so far I haven't been impressed by any old school anime remake. I'm starting to think it would be better to just hand properties like these to a good gaming company.

It's a really great song and, while I don't think the cover's awful (just kinda boring), the original's vastly superior. Damn, I really wish Chester was still alive. Now I'm thinking how cool it would've been if LP had done a song for Battle Angel Alita.

I agree! It's one of my favorites (okay, that doesn't say a lot since I love pretty much all LP songs) and I think the cover is horrible. I only watched the trailer after some of the fan accounts I follow tweeted about how good the song is. No?

And to the last part: Since last year the perception of Linkin Park online has changed a lot. Now everyone is okay with liking their music *shakes head*

Music snobs and elitists are the worst kind of fecal matter. NOBODY CARES HOW SUPERCOOL YOU ARE FOR LISTENING TO STUFF NOBODY LISTENS TO! And their taste in music is never as great as they think it is anyway. Shitting on others for the type of music they enjoy is so pathetic. They need to get a life and not deal with insecurities by putting down people who just want to have fun. Every single person I know IRL who was like this turned out to be a seriously faulty human being in one way or another.

So, OP, enjoy Linkin Park! They are awesome anyway and that doesn't need to be a secret!
