I can imagine that being annoying. I haven't read it yet but the novel currently has a fan translation going - maybe that would be something relevant to your interests when it comes to more canon character interaction?

Yeah I'm considering reading it. I hope it's a good translation and not alike the subs on youtube.

I just took a glance at it and I think it's okay. Some novel translations are seriously rough with the translators using machine translations while having barely any knowledge of Chinese and seemingly not a lot of knowledge of English and basic English grammar either. Compared to that, this translation seems alright.

The original novel is, but the show is heavy bromance at most - censorship in China is pretty strict.

What they said except I'd argue that there's some moments in the show that really give away the fact that the original webnovel was BL.

Hm, the guy on the right is cuter to me. Though they're both cute. But people watch things with different levels of interest, OP. I'm not going to lie that I've watched things specifically for one actor and depending on the media/story, I might or might not care about other characters or even the plot.

Beware, it's not a very good show. I'd argue most people are watching it just for the relationship between the leads, even though it's been watered down from the original novel. It has occasionally terrible dubbing, acting and special effects. Additionally the pacing is pretty bad and censoring the source material leaves some questionable plot holes.

But eh, the two leads are pretty good so try it. You can always skip scenes if you like.
