I feel you, OP. Years ago, we bought a light beige colored couch and it's only lasted this long because no pets, no kids. And it still needed cleaning. The next couch will be darker colored, but in the meantime I'm thinking of putting a slipcover on it for everyday use.

I do my best with "here's a blanket I've draped over it as a throw" (because blankets you can toss in the laundry and couches are COUCHES) but, yeah, people get chilly, and then they're UNDER the stupid throw and... but maybe it's time to think about slipcovering. If I can find something that fits and doesn't look heinous...
