Got a fandom-related issue? Post it here!

Dear fandom friend,

I'm sorry, but all of your characters look the same and if I have to read a caption to learn who they're supposed to be (am I looking at Snape here? Loki? Heathcliff? Kylo Ren? I literally can't tell!), I'm not buying a print or whatever from you. And frankly the attitude you have about ~real friends~ based on who spends money on your art is fucking shitty, man. Nobody owes you a thing, and maybe if you improved your style you'd be more successful.

STOP TALKING TO EACH OTHER IN THE SALES CHAT OF OUR DISCORD. TAKE IT TO A PRIVATE CHAT IF YOU'RE NOT ON TOPIC. I'M TIRED OF SEEING YOU TWO JUST GOING ON AND ON AND ON AND BURYING EVERYONE TRYING TO USE THE CHANNEL PROPERLY.

I found out today that an old fandom acquaintance self published a novel that's basically fanfiction and she just changed the names and that's it. It's very, VERY recognizable. I'm LOLing...

Hah. There's a traditionally-published author I like but she self-published a novel that was definitely fanfic with the serial numbers filed off.

I mean, I totally read it but the whole time I kept thinking, "man, I could find-replace on these names and this would be something I could easily find in AO3..."

Why is it always the stupid fanfic I knock off in one day that gets the most kudos and comments when the fic I love and spend ages writing gets like 5 comments at best? (I know why, it's because the popular ones are the flowershop and soulmate AUs, but I prefer to take my time on the angst and murder stories which isn't everyone's cup of tea. I'm still salty, though)

This happens to me too.

That happens to me too and I can't help but feel salty as well.

you know what? I'm mad that you left fandom without a word. just deleting everything and never speaking to any of us ever again (especially me, the one you said was your best friend) out of the blue has made me worry about you constantly for going on two years now. I hope you're safe and alive and happy but I am really not okay with how you handled this.

Going through my bookmarks I realized that yet another author I enjoyed deleted their AO3 account and all their fics. And since most of them were explicit the only thing I can get on the wayback machine is the warning rather than the fic itself.

I definitely need to start saving fics rather than depending on bookmarks.

Damn, that sucks. I've only had that happen to me once and I know I should start downloading the fics I like, but I always forget. Hmm, I guess I should do it now since I'm already on the computer.

Seeing SJWs tell begin a week long stream of constant harassment against a fanwork creator until that person deleted all twenty plus years of their fanworks and vanished off all social media.

The reason?

That author posted a fanfic with child character written as an adult. It took place many years after the canon series ended and said character (a tween in the series) was college age and in a sexual relationship.

I'm being vague on purpose to protect that person's privacy.

Twenty plus years of work gone because of SJWs calling them a pedophile, trying to get them "swatted", sending death threats, suicide bait, hate messages and harassment.

Over FANFICTION.

SJWs are the biggest hypocrites on the internet. I have yet to see them solve any real problems in the world, but they love to create them.

This is about Voltron, isn't it.

This is really late (and dumb) but whatever.

So last night I watched an interview with the two actors from my current favorite ship. They do a bunch of interviews together and are generally really adorable and entertaining. But in this one, one of them said something...slightly questionable. It wasn't anything awful (not, like...excusing sexual assault or anything, or bigoted in any way), but could've been interpreted as slightly...mean. It's also entirely possible he didn't mean it that way because it was kind of vaguely worded (not being more specific here because I just don't want to get into it). The other one didn't seem to think anything of it, so I don't know if that means he meant it the non-mean way, or the other one agrees with the mean thing. I feel like I should give him the benefit of the doubt since I've watched a ton of other interviews and in general they both seem like good guys, and it's also entirely possible I overreacted because I wasn't feeling great and was already kind of irritable when I watched it, but...it bothers me. I guess it's one of those reminders that celebrities you really like/admire are still human and sometimes say dumb things.

And yes, I know this is really stupid.
