I feel like it's just a new trend in general, a lot of sequels/reboots of previously finished things feel like this.

Princess Diaries "Royal Wedding" was way more of a shoehorn for the new "From The Diaries of a Middle School Princess" series than an actual wrap-up for Mia, not when the 10th book ended things so nicely.

I felt that way about "Royal Wedding" as well and I don't quite know how to feel about "Middle School Princess". I think the MC for is cute and all, but she seriously came out of fucking nowhere and with a tragic backstory to boot.

Not YA, but I also feel this way about the third Bridget Jones book.
