I mean, the reality is that you'd kind of have to figure out how to re-architecture the entire Internet to change that, wouldn't you?

Still sucks that billion dollar companies that have effectively killed privacy and profit off our data are the jury, judge, and executioner here.

Yeahhhhh kinda. Definitely agree on the privacy and data side, and we should try to build a much more stringent legal infrastructure around that.

But on the access side - it's not like this is an entirely novel thing here. large corporations also had an extremely substantial impact on political discourse before the Internet. It's not necessarily clear to me that Alex Jones has less reach or visibility, even now that he's banned from social media, than his 1970s counterpart would have done (which I guess would be Gary Allen). That doesn't mean that it's a good thing overall, just that it's a problem that's not unique to the Internet age.
