OMG I have never heard of this show but DAMN this is my favorite kind of porn right here. I LOVE historic shows especially when they feature cooking. I adore shows like Supersizers, Back in Time For.., and Heston's Feasts. I can not wait to start watching this tonight. Thank you so much OP.

Supersizers is great! But I admit that the cooking angle holds even more appeal for me because I like to see how dishes are put together. It's also fun to see how modern chefs struggle a little with old-fashioned ingredients and recipes. I just wish there were more episodes!

I've never heard of this, but it sounds amazing. Next time I'm on Netflix, I'll check it out!

It's a really cute show, especially if you like historical foods and seeing a little behind scenes of how such feasts are put together.

It sounds super fun! I'll probably check it out this weekend. :)

The one thing that turns me off of potentially watching the show is that I worry it's the kind of thing where they overromanticize aristocracy

(Anonymous) 2018-08-15 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. They don't put on a big show of guilt about the British empire and class discrimination but frankly, I'm glad. That wouldn't feel terribly sincere, anyway. There's some history of the houses and the people who lived in them, you see the current occupants as pretty normal people who are mostly just excited to try neat historical foods and maybe use the family silver. Most of the show is about the chefs and the cooking aspect. It's cute and a great comfort watch, but skip it if you feel uncomfortable.

Gotta say, cooking competitions aren't my thing, but that premise sounds very interesting. I never liked the competition shows but recently found that I enjoy watching some cooking on YouTube--there's just something soothing about watching other people cook, without me having to do the hard work (even if it does make hungry sometimes :p).

I know, right? I just randomly tried it and was hooked. There are only six episodes, though. :(

Excuse me while I rush to add this to my queue.

This sounds like my kind of show but I'm not on Netflix, is there any other way to get a hold of it?

(Anonymous) 2018-08-16 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
No idea, sorry. Youtube has like one episode, with annoying Turkish subtitles, though?
