I like this movie too. Do people say it's hard to follow? What about it is hard to follow?

Yeah it's kind of tropey and I'm not gonna lie I pretty much initially only watched it for Eddie Redmayne, but it's a fun ride and the characters are all interesting in their own way to me.

Plus visually it's very beautiful. I wouldn't have called it a chick flick ever though? Maybe sci-fi romance at the most, but even then, the romance is barely part of the plot?

A number of the critical reviews stated variations on "the plot is an incomprehensible mess," although my favorite review was the one from The Mary Sue titled "Jupiter Ascending is the Worst Movie Ever, Go See it Immediately" which said

"I mean, I want to have a serious discussion about the film’s plot, but I honestly can’t. I can’t because it just doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter! What about the plot could possibly matter when part of it involves Mila Kunis as the reincarnation of an ancient space princess who falls in love with a Channing Tatum-shaped half-wolf hybrid angel alien with anti-gravity roller skates and a great debt to pay off? That’s Jupiter Ascending.
