I love this.

So what constitutes a Terry Pratchett emergency?

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Rereading Night Watch just in time for the Glorious 25th of May is not an emergency but a planned event, and yet that's all I can think of. I'd like to know, too!

Not OP, but "I'm housebound and have run out of books" would count for me.

For me something upsetting in real life is Terry Pratchett emergency.

When im not sure what i want and where is my life is going, i reread Night Watch and Memory by Lois McMaster Bujold.
Both books deal with establishing identity and personal growth so beautifully.

I guess that's a good enough plan, even though it's sad to restrict yourself when it gets to reading your favourite books.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn, I miss Pratchett.

My favourite by him isn't popular, but I don't care. It's great. I'm always going to be upset there'll be no more.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
What is your favorite by him?

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Monstrous Regiment.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooooo, I absolutely love Monstrous Regiment!

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It's so good! I love the City Watch books, of course, but Monstrous Regiment wins every time. c:

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I love them both equally. I will never stop loving Vimes, and I will never stop loving Polly Perks and Maladicta.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That's really lovely!

I still can't bring myself to read The Shepherd's Crown; if I read it then everything will feel well and truly over, and I'm not ready (never will be ready?) for that.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm the same way. Some day I'll just have to get over it and read it, but I'm not there yet.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-19 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That's kind of beautiful, OP.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-20 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I've been stretching out my Pratchett re-reads too. I think I'm on my third round, and sometimes I'll use it as an excuse to buy new editions. Each time I read them, I feel like I discover something new, or I realize there's a joke I didn't necessarily get before but do now.

This secret made me smile. Also, this is a fantastic idea.
