An RC secret!! Anon, I love you <3 XD

You are so not alone; if you're a girl and you love Star Wars, you cannot not fall in love with at least one of the clones in the Republic Commando series ... wisecracking, strong, sarcastic, loyal, warm, battle scarred, tragic, damn sexy - I mean, you just have to! Karen Traviss took the blank, flat clones created by George Lucas and some of the other EU writers (Cestus Deception, I'm looking at you!) and turned them into unique, powerful and infinitely likeable characters, with emotions and memories and fears. And then we get to play the Republic Commando PC game and squee some more XD

So you're most definitely not alone! And you're right... where's the fandom? I mean, there's the game, there are three books, the films have plenty of clones... hmm, fandom, where are you?

hug_clones, back in the day. The sad thing is, there's a lot of Karen hate in fandom in general, especially among the TFN-associated fans (which, you know, is most of fandom). Which is stupid. D:

I guess Karen-hate is easy to understand .. everything she's written for the SW fandom has been about the one thing - Mandalorians. With such a concentrated subject, it's understandable that she might not be everyone's cup of tea; if you don't like Mandalorians, then you're rather screwed! Well, I don't like or dislike them, and while the random Mandalorian words and reference throw me in at the deep end occasionally to the point of irritation, she manages to redeem herself with her fantastic style and characters.

But outright hate to the point of sticking the RC part of the EU into an obscure corner? That's a little much!

There are probably other sections of fandom elsewhere. I mean, Star Wars fandom is so huge that it's hard to find everyone who likes the same thing. I tend to satisfy myself with my little LJ and forum subsection, but that's because I'm just not a big fandom person anymore at all...

Have you ever checked out Kriff This (http://s4.invisionfree.com/mindbreak)? There are a few clone fans there, even among the Karen-haters who are nostalgic for the Good Old Days before she touched LotF, heh.

That's true! That's also one of the fun things about the SW fandom, of course! :)

I haven't seen that site, thanks for the link! I generally tend to stick to LJ, fandom-wise, with the odd venture to official sites and random visit to fansites... probably not the best way of keeping abreast with fandom and its various sections! I didn't even know there were various degrees of Karen-haters... shows how sheltered a fan I am lol

I think Karen's kind of crazy, but I still love the books to tiny pieces-- is that allowed? I joined

hug_clones when I first got obsessed with the RC books, about a year and half ago, but yeah, no traffic across it. :(
