I'll give people a chance, even if it does say 'first fic' or something like that. As long as it's for my favorite pairing, I'll always give it a shot.

The whole 'no beta' thing seems kind of snooty to me though. I don't have a beta and plenty of people like my writing.

People only advertise that they don't have a beta in the summary as a way of excusing all the errors. Otherwise, why even point it out? How many fics have "BTW, meticulously betaed" in the summary? Not very many, that's who!
