At a glance, I think that #1 would be way too wide for my monitor/screen resolution. Ugh, does anybody else long for the days when lj layouts actually all fit onscreen at a standard screen resolution? Since lj brought in that lifeless crap from Vox, people seem to think it's perfectly okay to have to SCROLL SIDEWAYS. WTF.

Otherwise, it's not a bad layout. Just the width thing is - no, sorry.


I REALLY like #2. It's nice and clean and easy on the eyes. The only suggestion I might make is to adjust the width of the header to match the entries table, but that's it.

Too bad it's not winning. There's just NO accounting for taste.


#3 is also comfortable to look at...but something about it (I'm thinking mostly the colors) sort of makes it look girly and teeny-bopper, which I suspect is the primary reason it's not winning. People might have given other reasons (I haven't read all the comments), but people have such strong subconscious reactions to color choices that I'd be surprised if color wasn't the main problem.

There's other things, but I can't put my finger on them, other than that shape might be an issue here, too. Both this and #2 have rounded corners in them that I'm guessing are turning off some people as well. Pity, not everything has to have square corners.


#4 will be harder to read than, say, my preferred choice of #2. (And looks like it will also be TOO WIDE, makeitstop!) But no more so than the current layout PLUS the Doctor's in there. As long as my fandom is in a header like that, I'm sufficiently placated to vote for it...


Because, WTF, how the hell is #5 winning?! I don't know what that header's about, but I don't care, either. I feel like a jerk for saying so, but even good layout makers can turn out stinkers, and this is seriously fucking ugly. MAN, IS IT EVER UGLY. Yeah, yeah, the background will be amusing for the first week or so.

If you're layout maker #5, I hardly think you have reason to sob silently into your pillow tonight. The color theme makes me think, "yesterday's breakfast" (that's my main problem), but a whopping 473 people seem to really like it so far. So.

Hey, I know not everyone will agree with my layout. Thats fine. Everyone has their opinions and I entered this contest knowing someones gonna hate it with a living passion.

Sorry you don't like it I guess I can't do much about it but I respect your opinion.

I gather my original comment was generally taken as quite hostile when I only meant it to be hyperbolic; I'm not, you know, going to rage to myself every time I load the page when it's put in place. *shrugs* Obviously something about it really captures people, so you know, cheers to you for that.
