Had a discussion with someone the other day about one of my headcanons. They said that it is canon that Sauron was loved and admired and looked-up to in Valinor before he went evil. I honestly don't remember seeing that in canon. But I haven't read every single minute bit yet. Still working on the Histories. So it is entirely possible. I still like the idea of him being an arrogant asshole even back then and that being off-putting to others, though.
