Re: What lies have you told that have benefited you?

I cheated on an exam once. I had been sick all exam week, so I got to retake it and was left in a room, alone, with my backpack, including my book. And this professor was the only one who would not allow computers in class, and I physically can't both take handwritten notes and actually absorb anything in class due to a learning disability. And I explained this to her and wanted to work with her, offered to go get official testing (I did have testing done, but it wasn't good enough for my school, and she was the only professor I had an issue with, so I hadn't needed to do the expensive testing before). But she said that she doesn't allow computers (or recording of the class) and positive testing wouldn't make a difference to her. I could have fought it and made her hate me, but I sucked it up and tried to learn the class. My notes were terrible. Barebone and nearly illegible. And my retention of things said in class was minimal at best.

So anyway, I got sick exam week, and got to retake. I did fine on three out of the five essays, but on two of them I just had no idea. So I took a quick peak at my book.

So I passed. Got an A in fact. And I have mixed feelings about it because, on the one hand, cheating, but on the other hand, that teacher was an ass and seemed to go out of her way to make learning difficult for quite a few of us.
