People say stupid things, it's just going to happen. Try to get yourself to realize this. And remember that while you know you've heard other people say stupid things, you do not remember most of it, so the same is true for other people making note of the things you say. If you're truly worried about something, go ahead and ask. If it looms too large in your head, then ask something like "That conversation the other, I think I said something that came out the wrong way. Was I too harsh/flippant?" But don't ask too often. A few times, and a few different people might help you gauge yourself.
