I enjoy the movie honestly but I sort of take it as it's own separate thing rather than the beginning of the show. Which doesn't really track since the first episode is a direct continuation, but still.

I'm too used to the show actors being my Jack and Daniel that the movie versions just don't really register as the same characters to me(and tbh movie!Jack is really a completely different character anyway).

same here, I mean...I've always thought they were two separate things, like the show was based on the movie but still different. but I guess I just don't remember the pilot/first season of SG-1 because I sure don't remember the continuation.

I just recently got into this, and yeah. They outright reference the mission, up to and including that fact that there was lying so Daniel could stay there. Ra is mentioned into even Season 3.

They go back to the planet that Daniel decided to stay on in the first episode, and his wife gets kidnapped by Ra, which is used as an on-going thread well into s3 I think.

It's not a bad thing since I do like the movie, but I absolutely separate them in my head because I just prefer it that way.

Apophis, not Ra.

I see it as there is a version of Stargate that consists of just the movie and then there is a version that is the tv stuff where the events of the movie also happened but maybe with slight differences (including the appearances of the characters).
