sterek shippers queerbaited themselves, nothing in the show between them was ever anything other than two dudes being antagonistic towards each other that for some reason the fandom took as actual intent to make canon.

i know the pr team got shitty about it in later seasons but the shippers had already worked themselves up into a tizzy by that point anyway. shitty pr team just made it worse.

also klance shippers have similarly queerbaited themselves.

Not into Voltron but honestly I agree about Sterek - in the text of the show it had barely anything, especially in the first couple seasons, but I remember people insisting there was no way it wouldn’t be canon and it was like... are we watching the same show?

oh dude i know what you mean. like if people wanna ship it that's cool, sterek had a fun dynamic and all so i get people liking it. but this idea that it 200% would happen, no questions, was just... i really do wonder what show they were watching tbh. shipper goggles are a hell of a thing sometimes.

klance has even less canon material to work with than sterek if you can believe that, and i won't dunk on anyone that just enjoys it as a ship, because it's fandom, have fun with it. and i personally find some klance fanart cute so it's not like the ship itself is evil or anything. it's the people who convinced themselves that it will happen because... idk, they sometimes snark at each other? that are something else.

it was never gonna happen guys so wtf is up with the tantrum throwing?

kinda ot but when it comes to older fandoms part of me would kill to see what kind of dumbass hot take wank we'd get out of it if they were a new thing now. i bet i would be both amazed and baffled.
