It’s an unpleasant attitude that doesn’t reflect well on the OP. I hope they do keep it to themselves in greater fandom.

Honestly? I think it's pretty harmless. Everybody has their pet peeves after all. Mine's the phrase "Character X was bored", only to lead said character into some super-not-funny prank war - you won't believe how fast I back button from a fic when that one shows up. It's like a red flag to me. And I do think less of an author after encountering it.

+1

Seriously, we all have our peeves when it comes to writing.

If I see an author plop out an x Reader fic, I'll immediately think less of them, because they're invariably horribly written and always absolutely horrible, without exception.

Am I going to tell them this to their face? No, of course not.

They can get their jollies however they want to, but I'm going to judge them super hard from a distance where my opinion can't hurt them.

Reasonable people understand that all readers have personal preferences for what they like to read. It's not an unpleasant attitude unless they're rudely vocal about it and nobody who is sensible will be offended by readers having preferences.

I think it's crossing the line a little bit if you imply that a writer is writing something because they're unable to write something better, rather than because it's their preference

I don't know if that's reading too much into OP's secret but I think that's kind of where people are coming from

Everyone has their own yardstick by which they measure what they think of as writing quality. You can disagree with that yardstick, but I don't see the point of getting offended by what other people consider good enough for them to read.

Yeah, that's what was crossing the line into mean-spiritedness for me, but I guess I'm alone there. *SHRUG*
