Ooh, there's the occasional C) Soulbonds are terrifying destroyers of consent (whether by mind-melding or w/e), and are recognised in-universe as such; though that one doesn't often get more than a one-shot.

I'd find that as a subset of A), with the stuff they have to work out being of much darker a nature. Narrative structure wise the purpose the consent destroying soulbond serves is to get the people together, then they have to actually deal with each other

Those ARE much rarer though, sadly

Yeah, that's a great concept that I really like reading, and wish would be explored a lot more often.
