Being an avid follower on both, I'd say reddit has too bad a rep and tumblr has too good a rep.

Tumblr has nazis, alt-righters, terfs and other gross harassing people. If anything, it's harder to get away from them on tumblr without moderating staff.

Reddit has those as well, but honestly I never see them when I'm looking at dog pictures in animal subreddits. The rep of reddit as being a horrible vile pit is really off. There's bad subreddits and there's plenty of ones just dedicated to animals or other cute things.

But also the rep of tumblr as being this pure bastion of feminism is laughable.
