Except in this case the queerbaiting is made up by delusional fans who want rivalshipping (when the characters just don't get along very well because the have very opposite sources of low self esteem that bump against each other in really bad ways in that one has a huge family and the other has pretty much no family for the longest time) and the "criticizers" sent death threats to one of the VAs (the post being now deleted, tho I have seen it with my own eyes).

I'm not disagreeing about the delusional shippers but I'm curious what you mean about their family backgrounds being an issue. I don't remember that coming up like...ever?

Oh anon, it's not just one death threat. It's constant to everyone. The executive producers have gotten death and rape threats to the point where they had to apologize publicly. Bex (who is non-binary and lesbian) has gotten told that she's straight, had LGBT+ teens calling her slurs because she disagreed with them on ships. At one point somebody talked about taking a gun to meet her. She reacted with "go ahead, I know Krav Maga" and the person had a crytyping "I'm a minor!" breakdown.
