That seems the most probable, yeah. But I'm still glad Lackey's book was published earlier. Even if that is not her best series, IMO.

Was jjust getting ready to say the same thing. Since so much of GRRM's series is based on real world history and myth, sometimes quite blatantly, is it impossible that the Iron Throne is based on a real object? If so, then it's just two people working in the same field who read the same research.
