I was never really attached to Rip. It doesn't matter to me if he is actually on the show. I was surprised when I found out that many people watch the show solely for him.
Recently I rewatched S2 and totally forgot that he was brainwashed and evil for a while. These were the 2.5 episodes he was interesting. And kinda hot.

It took me a long time to warm up to Rip. I think for most of the first season. I think a large part of it had to do with the fact that I was having a hard time separating him from Rory Williams, Arthur Darvill’s other time-traveling character. It felt like Rory dressed up as Ten.

Once I got past that, though, I really started to enjoy him, and I was really sad that they killed him off. But yeah, I never watched the show just for him. For me, that’s Sara. I enjoy all the characters, but Sara’s the only one that is “absolutely must stay for me to keep watching” status.
