I don't think there really were other ships involving Sorey or Mikleo though. Neither had any other character come close to being in potential love interest territory... besides maybe Alisha, but she leaves the party and the other characters joke about how Sorey keeps obliviously rejecting her advances. Rose definitely wasn't a love interest either, and idk I guess the only character Mikleo had a teasing/friendly sort of relationship with was Edna, but she's like 1000 years old and I never got a sexual tension vibe there at all. So it's like, what's the alternative ship? Plus, considering the game's ending, it's not like anything but Sorey/Mikleo has a chance of being realized, lol!

I'm reminded I need to replay Fire Emblem for Ike/Soren, though! Fire Emblem has so many awesome gay ships, and some of them felt pretty darn close to canon.

idk about anyone else but I was getting major Alisha/Rose vibes from the DLC too, sooooo...

No, Sorey and Mikleo argued like a married couple and nothing else felt close to it in the game. I mean I can see people wanting to push Alisha/Sorey-- but to me I felt like Alisha was too 'duty-centric' in the game and she revered Sorey's position too much, there was that respect-- but also the fact that they interacted from 'one of lofty position' to another.

Alisha and Rose though in the add on Alisha's Story game, yeah-- that's definitely a ship right there.

Mikleo and Sorey just had that intimacy that no one else could come close to in game

Ooh I haven't played Alisha's DLC, but I would love to see the dynamic between them!

But yeah, I liked Sorey and Alisha's relationship because it seemed to have so many positive qualities without feeling romantic. Sorey was fascinated with Alisha since she was the first human he'd ever met, and then really wants to support her. Alisha works so freaking hard and puts up with so much without any thanks, and I loved that she prioritized her duty over wandering about the countryside with Sorey. The pair just had a neat friendship I really liked. I did miss Alisha when she was gone, but I think her leaving ended up being a pretty cool choice, especially since she seemed like the obvious love interest from the start, but it ended up getting so neatly subverted.
