When a game has gay jokes written right into it and no female love interests, I guess it seems to me like the creators want to deliberately alert players to the possibility of the relationship. Plus, the ending scene is Sorey and Mikleo reuniting after like 1000 years and everyone else is gone, which read to me as pretty romantic. I didn't really see Edna and Mikleo as anything other than an older woman trolling an overly sensitive kid, but to each their own!

I mean I don't think anyone's weird for reading it that way and I even believe it was the author's intent. But their chemistry was sort of handed to me, it felt like. Maybe I go for subtext rather than blatant, or maybe I just favor different personality types together or something. Sometimes I don't get the canon het pairings, either. In my case, this was more a matter of 'just because there's no one else doesn't mean it's got believable chemsitry' to me. And I'm speaking as someone who fell for their same sex best friend. *shrugs*
