Those of you who wax facial hair...

(Anonymous) 2018-09-08 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
... what product do you use? One of the joys of growing older is that I'm getting a bit of peach fuzz on my upper lip and I'd like it gone. :(

I've found just shaving it works best for me - quick pass over it every few days keeps it all in check.
Your mileage may vary.

I use the Sally Hansen cold wax strips for face/eyebrows. They come in different sizes and are double-sided as well. Not bad, gets rid of that stupid blonde Fu Manchu thing I've got going on in my old age.

I epilate. Yeah, it's practice for the day I'm caught and tortured, but all the time my epilator comes with a cap for smaller areas, it gets the job done fairly quickly.

Before getting the epilator, I threaded. It didn't take a lot of practice and there were lots of youtube vids.

I use a face razor (I got mine from Sephora) and pluck out the darker hairs. I've tried threading, but it hurts too much and waxing always gave me pimples.

I’ve had a mustache and chest and boob hair since my late teens, and unless it’s a special occasion (in which case I pluck and sugar wax) I just shave it off, except the boob hair which I mostly leave alone because ingrown boob hair is disgusting.

DA

Yes, I depilatorised the hair between my boobs until it didn't work any more and had to resort to tweezing and shaving with an eyebrow shaper.

AYRT—I wish the hair was just between my boobs. I’m like Disney Gaston hairy. Very occasionally, when I can’t stand it any more, I soak in the tub and break out the tweezers, and if I’m lucky I go a week not feeling like the missing link.

Yeah, I only got an ingrown nipple hair ONCE and ever since, it's this bizarre thing where my armpits are shaved, and my legs are shaved, but everything in between is a jungle of 70s proportions. The last guy who saw me naked was seriously confused. I will never forget the baffled "you have more chest-hair than ME"

It's so weird - when i was a teen/twenties, i always had a few dark hairs growing on the edges of my aureola. But now? They're just gone. Can't even remember when they stopped growing back.

mine used to be pretty nonexistent, but suddenly exploded now that I'm thirty. It's like BOOM, you get the magical gift of nipple-hair. So maybe there's a finite number of nipple-hairs in the universe, and every once and a while we do something and there's a karmic nipple-hair shift.

*dies*

Well, I'm glad mine are gone. I plucked them, and holy ow. Happy not to do that anymore.

Lucky you! I plucked them out and they only came back darker and sturdier!

Karmic Nipple-Hair Shift sounds like it ought to either be a punk band, or a lost episode of Star Trek TOS.

I have this weird short stubble thing on my boobs - mostly on the underside, but not on the tops or the nipples. WTF...

I hit puberty at 11 and was always hairy, but when I was 19 I got out of the bathroom wearing a towel and my mom, instead of rumning in to go to the bathroom did a double take and went “you have CHEST HAIR!” I’d been trying to ignore it for a few weeks by then but I was going through the worst depressive episode of my life at the same time. I think my hormones got fucked up somehow. I stopped having regular migraines around the same time.

Huh. That is odd.
I think i'd go for chest hair over migraines any day.

The local salon does a hot wax on my eyebrows for me when i bother to go in. I tried getting the upper lip waxed *once* and not only did it burn and hurt like fuck, but I broke out like crazy. So never again.

Mostly I just pluck the stupid black and white hairs that grow up overnight and occasionally do a wee shave with a the little brow shaver thing i got at the Dollar General.

My "peach fuzz" is full on black. I do electrolosis when I can afford it and shave otherwise. Wax scares me.

I used to use hair removal creams, but the chem8cals irritated my skin. Then I tried the Nair wax strips, but also irritated my skin. So, I went and got it threaded. I learned how to do it myself (thank you YouTube!) so I simply thread it at my own pace and vigour, and boom! Maintained!
